About This Project

An interactive that tests the spelling of common words in the context of a printing press, using spoken local dialect.

When initiated by a child, the machine generates one of fifty words as an audio sample, spoken in local dialect.  The letters to spell the word are selected and placed on the bed of the printing press in a register. Letters are shown as correct or incorrect on screen.

When all letters are correct, the printing press is enabled and can be operated.  The word is ‘printed’ on screen, along with a spoken and written definition.
